I go to PERU with YOU!

We experienced and learned a lot our first day in Peru! Today is Election Day in Peru. This is a BIG deal for Peruvians. No alcohol is served starting one day prior to elections. Elections only take place once every three years. They do not work the first half of the day so everyone can vote! I tried to minimize the pictures...

Pic 1- Food pic...yep...I posted food, but when you are trying Peruvian cuisine you get to post food pics. We tried Chicha Morada, which is a purple corn drink, plenty of peruvian meats, maca, and a breakfast like no other! I have already realized that they put a lot more work and emphasis on meals. Yummo!

Pic 2- Miraflores- Kennedy Park (which has a cat sanctuary with cats everywhere), Indian Market, and Iglesia La Virginen Milagrosa. Kennedy Park has become a symbol of how Lima and the country at large would like to present themselves. It was an honor to see the park named after a US President.

Pic 3- Miraflores Beach- paragliding and cliffs with a view of Christ of the Pacific statue.

Pic 4- El Baso (statue in Love Park), lighthouse, cacti everywhere, and more art work and statutes along the Pacific Ocean.

Pic 5- Random pics that show the little things we noticed today. Crabs are EVERYWHERE and people are surfing with them! Eeek! They are everywhere along the coast! Pebble-stone roads, and lots of walking along rocky pacific coast line with ivy lining each stair. We head south tomorrow. Hope you all do not get tired of pics! Can you tell I am excited?!?! I have waited over a year!
