Oaklawn and Little Rock Zoo Weekend

Well...I am a few weeks behind on posts, but Matt is home from Kosovo! His unit sent he and another gentleman for a site tour. I have asked him to blog about his tour this week. He has lots of pictures to share.

Two weeks ago, we went to Oaklawn for the day to watch the horses. We went during the week, so it was nice to miss the heavy weekend crowd. Below is a picture of Caroline's excitement when we told her she was going to see the horses race.

I wish these hands would stay this small forever.

Ready for the first race!

The following day we went to the zoo and met Lexi, Ashley, and Blake. Caroline adores the monkeys!

This carousel means so much to me. I would go to the zoo ALL the time growing up with my Grandpa Norris. We would go so much, I am pretty sure the train driver knew us by name! This carousel is the original Little Rock Zoo Carousel, which used to be across the street from the zoo. There was a huge write-up article two years ago that my grandfather read to me before passing away. This carousel had to be renovated, but is still the only type of its kind. I cannot remember all the details, but it is the only one in the world that has wood planks controlled by a certain framework underneath. My grandfather passed away two weeks before Caroline was born. I know he was thrilled with joy that Caroline got to experience the same carousel that I experienced with him as a child.

We are having another great weekend and enjoying Matt being home. We went to eat at a new restaurant last night and then to Orange Leaf. I cannot express how thankful I am for the time with my family! I love them!

Let's Go Fly A Kite

Spring is here! Caroline and I have had an awesome day! I just adore Fridays!

We left early this morning and headed to Little Rock to complete a post-op appointment for Caroline's tubes. She was ready to see Dr. John for an evaluation (she calls him Dr. John, but his name is not John). He just smiles and laughs. She also told the receptionist that today is her birthday and that she would share her cake with them...hum? To bad her birthday is in September! The front desk ladies took her for a personal tour of the back room. When Caroline was finished entertaining the ladies we scooted across the street to Target and Chick-fil-a.

Now we are home flying kites...one of my favorite memories with my mother. Now I get to share that memory with my little girl.

We really miss Matt! Ready for him to be home!
